Abacus Energy Selects SoftSmiths
Houston, TX. – December 22, 2009 –
SoftSmiths, Inc., a leading energy software solutions
and services company, today announced the selection of
their SoftSmiths ERCOT Forecaster application service by
Texas Retail Electric Provider, Abacus Resources Energy.
SoftSmiths ERCOT Forecaster was chosen by Abacus Energy
to automate their forecasting process while supporting
their entry into the commercial market.
Abacus Energy is a Dallas based retail
electricity provider specializing in residential,
multi-family apartments, and businesses.
The SoftSmiths ERCOT Forecaster is an
easy-to-use Software-as-a-Services (SaaS) forecasting
application for Retail Electric Providers (REPs). The
service enables REPS to automatically download and
present ERCOT Forecast and Backcast information in
user-ready format and immediately calculates Forecast
values for short and longer horizons. It allows easy and
fast upload of zipped ERCOT settlement level load
extracts that users can view in tabular and graphical
format and compare this with Forecast and Backcast
data. SoftSmiths ERCOT Forecaster provides energy
forecasters the information they need at their
finger-tips in an automated fashion.

delivery model provides an automated, web-based
environment that helps customers to simplify
implementation, accelerate time-to-market and gain
ongoing processing efficiencies, while requiring minimal
