Grant County PUD Awards Contract for SoftSmiths
Application Upgrade
Houston, TX. – May 31, 2007 – SoftSmiths, Inc., a
leading energy software solutions and services company,
today announced it has been awarded a contract by Grant
County Public Utilities District for upgrading its
SoftSmiths Power Suite as part of a technology upgrade,
while protecting its existing application software
investment and to support new business requirements.
Based on a Service Oriented Architecture
(SOA), SoftSmiths Power offers front-to-back
functionality for load forecasting, resource planning,
trade capture, scheduling, transmission reservation,
electronic tagging, risk measurement, credit control,
wholesale checkout and accounting.
The upgrade to SoftSmiths Power Version
5 allows Grant County to take advantage of the latest
functionality and rationalize their supporting IT
infrastructure, in time to meet newly introduced
business practices and reliability regulations, and be
well equipped to meet future requirements in the
constantly changing industry.
Grant PUD generates and sells
electricity to Grant County residents and millions of
customers throughout Central Washington and the Pacific
Northwest. The Priest Rapids Project, comprised of
Priest Rapids and Wanapum Dams, produces nearly 2,000
megawatts of clean, renewable and reliable electricity –
enough to supply a city the size of Seattle.
Since 2002, Grant County has relied on a
range of SoftSmiths applications, including SoftSmiths
Power, SoftSmiths Electronic Tagging, SoftSmiths e-Link
and SoftSmiths Market Portal.
