New Brunswick Power Corporation selects SoftSmiths
Houston, TX. – May 28, 2004 – SoftSmiths,

today announced that Energie NB Power has selected
its Electronic Tagging Portal Suite (ETPS) and e-Link
Integration solution. NB Power is the largest electric
utility in Atlantic Canada, and operates one of North
America's most diverse generating and interconnected
transmission systems. The Generation business unit
operates one of the world's most diverse generating
systems. It produces economic and dependable electricity
at its fourteen hydro, coal, oil, Orimulsion and diesel
powered facilities. The network of generating stations
has an installed capacity totaling 3,484 MW.
SoftSmiths’ seamlessly integrated
solution enables NB Power to automatically generate
E-Tags from energy
schedules, thereby streamlining the submission process
and eliminating redundant and error-prone manual entries.

SoftSmiths e-Link Application Program
Interface includes an ETPS adapter that allows integration
with SoftSmiths
e-Merchant or in-house scheduling systems. The adapter
doesn’t simply pass on the data, but also interprets
the E-Tags and keeps track of tags as transactions,
thereby providing meaningful data to the in-house applications.
e-Link uses XML schemas consistent with electric industry
and internet standards such as XML schema, SOAP and
SMXP.
ETPS
The Electronic Tagging
Portal Suite (ETPS) enables
all entities (Generation Entities, Purchasing/Selling
Entities, Control Area Operators and Transmission
Providers) involved in energy delivery transactions
to create, verify, approve, and manage transactions
electronically. The E-Tagging Portal Suite includes
three components: e-Agent, e-Authority and e-Approval,
and is designed in compliance with the North American
Electric Reliability Council (NERC) Electronic Tagging
specifications.
