Grant
County PUD selects SoftSmiths' Electronic Tagging Portal
Suite to implement E-Tag 1.7
Houston, TX. – April
30, 2002 – Today, SoftSmiths
announced that Public Utility District No. 2 of Grant
County WA, has selected SoftSmiths Electronic Tagging
Portal Suite (ETPS) to provide its NERC E-Tag 1.7 compliant
tagging solution. The Grant County Public Utility District,
located in Central Washington, is a municipal corporation
of the state of Washington. The District is a major generating
utility with two large hydroelectric developments on
the Columbia River and two small generating plants on
local irrigation canals. Electricity is sold on a nonprofit
retail basis to Grant County residents and wholesale
to utilities serving customers in seven Western and Northwestern
states. SoftSmiths delivers critical e-Business solutions
and services that enable energy industry participants
to enhance profitability and reliability in the competitive
marketplace.
"We needed an easy-to-use, robust and highly
available platform," said Frank Tempel, Systems
Control Manager at Grant County Public Utility District. "We
believe SoftSmiths’ Electronic Tagging Suite
is that solution. Intuitive for the business user to
operate and supporting our requirements for continuous
throughput, it provides us the most steady and stable
platform in the market place."
The Electronic Tagging Portal Suite (ETPS) provides
virtually limitless scalability and availability. ETPS
includes three components - e-Agent, e-Authority and
e-Approval - and enables all entities (Control Area
Operators, Purchasing/Selling Entities, Transmission
Providers, Load Serving Entities, and Generation Producers)
involved in energy delivery transactions to create,
verify, approve and manage transactions electronically
using the internet as its platform
"We welcome Grant County PUD to our growing customer
base", said Larry Stone, Director of Engineering
at SoftSmiths. "Built on SoftSmiths’ proven
e-Business application infrastructure, SoftSmiths’ ETPS
ensures scalability, availability, reliability, and
ease of integration that allows Grant County to maintain
an uninterrupted focus on their business. The ETPS
software not only supports integration with SoftSmiths'
e-Merchant and e-Wheel transaction and scheduling systems,
including automatic tag creation, but also provides
tight integration with legacy back-office systems."
