BP Alternative Energy Selects SoftSmiths Market-MISO
Houston, TX. – April 28, 2008 –
SoftSmiths, Inc., a leading energy software solutions
and services company, today announced that that BP
Alternative Energy North America will use the SoftSmiths
Market-MISO application to support dispatch operations
in the Midwest ISO (MISO). BP’s combined-cycle gas
cogeneration facility produces electricity to sell into
the Midwest wholesale market and provides steam to BP
refinery.
The SoftSmiths Markets application suite
delivers the functionality for bids/offers, scheduling,
and settlement activities to enable ISO market
participants to submit plans, offer generation, schedule
energy, and manage settlements.
SoftSmiths’ solution interfaces with both MISO and BP’s
internal systems to receive dispatch instructions by
using SoftSmiths e-Link Application Programming
Interface (API).
BP
Alternative Energy, launched in November 2005, combines
all of BP’s interests in low and zero-carbon power
generation: wind, solar, hydrogen power with carbon
capture and storage, natural gas-fired power generation,
biofuels for low carbon transport and distributed energy
for emerging markets. BP Alternative Energy is one of
the leading wind developers in the U.S. and has
portfolios in Europe, Asia and Latin America. BP’s U.S.
wind portfolio includes the opportunity to develop
almost 100 projects with a potential total generating
capacity of 15,000 MW.
"We welcome this new high profile
customer to our family of SoftSmiths users", said Hugo
Stappers, Director of Sales and Marketing at SoftSmiths.
"The combined SoftSmiths Market-MISO and SoftSmiths
e-Link solution provides a critical application to
support BP Alternative Energy's participation in MISO
and meet their operational requirements."
