SoftSmiths Adds EMS-Link to its Product Family

Houston, TX. – April 18, 2002 – SoftSmiths, Inc today announced commercial availability of its EMS-Link interface, a software solution that provides seamless integration between 3rd party Energy Management Systems and SoftSmiths' e-Merchant and e-Wheel Product Suites. SoftSmiths delivers critical e-Business solutions and services that enable energy industry participants to enhance profitability and reliability in the competitive marketplace.

The application program interface allows SoftSmiths e-Merchant and e-Wheel transaction management applications to provide net scheduled interchange data in the required format to EMS/SCADA systems for use in Automatic Generation Control (AGC). This complements the capabilities already provided by e-Merchant and e-Wheel to make use of EMS/SCADA information, such as meter data, to perform control area energy accounting functions such as calculation of inadvertent interchange.
