SoftSmiths Announces SoftSmiths-ERCOT Forecaster for
Retail Electric Providers
Houston, TX. – February 26, 2009 –
SoftSmiths, Inc., a leading energy software solutions
and services company, today announced the release of
SoftSmiths ERCOT Forecaster, an on-line Software as a
Service application that provides energy forecasters at
a Retail Electric Provider (REP) with a means to see
their load forecasts, analyze and compare ERCOT
forecast, backcast and settlement data, and thereby
enable them to make informed business decisions.
SoftSmiths ERCOT Forecaster downloads
ERCOT-supplied load forecasts and backcasts for retail
customer profiles and calculates zonal and total load
forecast and backcast values based on the REP’s actual
or estimated customer profile counts. In addition, REPs
can define “what-if” customer profile counts in order to
examine their load forecasts and backcasts under
different customer profile configurations. SoftSmiths
ERCOT Forecaster provides a segment management ‘wizard’
for easy adding or removing of customer profiles.
The forecast and backcast data is
displayed in user-friendly browser-based displays in
both tabular and chart forms. The Data is grouped by
type, and identified by profile name components,
including where applicable, Weather Zone and Customer
Profile. Data can be exported to the windows clipboard
for import into Microsoft Excel.
