SoftSmiths Markets Successfully Performs Connectivity
Testing for CAISO MRTU and ERCOT Nodal
Houston, TX. – February 20, 2007 –
SoftSmiths, Inc., a leading energy software solutions
and services company, today announced that its ISO/RTO
market participant solution SoftSmiths Markets,
successfully passed connectivity testing for both the
California ISO’s Market Redesign and Technology Upgrade
(MRTU), as well as the ERCOT Nodal Market, respectively planned
to go-live in January 2008, and December 2009.
The SoftSmiths Markets product suite
helps ISO/RTO Market Participants to automate the
submission of energy schedules, bids and offers to the
ISO/RTO, performs a shadow settlement of ISO charges,
and consolidates ISO market information in a single
database.
For CAISO MRTU, SoftSmiths completed
testing of the Rules Validation Connectivity simulation
in November and December 2006, and following this
month’s successful Enhanced Rules & Connectivity – Inter
SC Trades test, is now ready for the Business Structure
Simulation scheduled for May this year.
With the ERCOT Nodal project recently
kicked-off system interface testing as part of its Early
Delivery System phase 1, SoftSmiths participated in the
sandbox testing, and successfully completed the test
cycle, communicating with the ERCOT servers.
SoftSmiths Markets is based on a

Leveraging this highly flexible platform, the MRTU and
ERCOT Nodal mandated changes are being incorporated into
the product as the market operators finalize their
