Position Title: Energy Software Analyst

Job Description

SoftSmiths is a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for the energy industry. We are seeking a detail-oriented, enthusiastic, energetic team player to work with our clients, consultants, and software engineers to analyze, document, and design additional functionality for our Gas product suite. In this role, you will work both as a team member and as an individual analyst on product implementation, enhancement, and integration projects with our clients in utilities and energy delivery businesses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Analyze and document clients’ business requirements and application objectives
· Define modifications and work with client team to ensure needs are met and solutions are delivered
· Consult with clients to demonstrate how system functionality can satisfy their business requirements
· Assist in coordinating and prioritizing development requests
· Document and create test plans for major enhancements to the product suite
· Provide internal and external training classes on the product suite, and customized training to meet specific customer needs
· Provide assistance to the Sales team (product demonstrations, presentations, and proposal development)

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Strong math or quantitative background and BS in business, finance, economics, engineering, math or computers is required. An advanced degree in a secondary field or the same field is desirable.

You must have a minimum of 5 years of experience gathering and analyzing end-user requirements in gas trading, scheduling and risk management systems, and having knowledge in more than one of the following markets is a plus: Coal, Refined Products, Power.

You must be customer-focused, have good people skills, and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
You must be proficient in Microsoft Office and understanding of relational databases
Some knowledge of Java, C/C++/VB and exposure to Oracle/SQLServer or SQL, is a plus.
You must be able to travel as much as 25% to 50%.
